Cadaver dogs are an efficient way to search for remains thanks to their ability to cover large areas easily and quickly, and with great accuracy. They can identify remains that are above ground, buried, or even submerged in water. The remains can be reasonably well decayed or so recently deceased that they are not noticeably decaying to a human observer.

When we try to understand why serial killers do what they do, we often look to genetics, childhood trauma, and mental illness. However, that doesn’t explain what they feel about killing or their motives, and it creates further psychological distance between what we see as their minds and our own. If our goal is to truly understand how serial killers think, we need to know how acts of murder fit into their life. One way to do this is through ‘leisure science’, the study of leisure.
